Vacature Cochlear: Mechanical Engineer
This is a unique opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to design and help bring to market implant solutions that can help people hear. You will enjoy finding solutions to challenging technical issues, testing and building prototypes in the lab to assess their full potential.

Key Requirements:
· (Electro)mechanical or mechatronic engineering Master or Professional Bachelor degree or equivalent by experience
· Ideally experience in implant development or in the medical device industry with experience in mechanical and/or acoustic testing and knowledge of applicable standards
· Experience with 2D and 3D CAD tools, drawings & mechanical tolerances preferably PTC Creo.
· Experience with supplier & subcontractor contracts
· Ability to plan, organise, implement and control tasks towards a goal
· Pragmatic problem solver of difficult problems and producer of solutions outside the standard procedure
· Hands-on
· Understanding of V&V principles
· Strong inter-personal skills
· Strong self and time management skills
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the mechanical design and development of safe and effective acoustic implantable transducers, surgical tools and packaging solutions that meet the customer’s needs.
Design and development of mechanical and acoustic test methods and setups through conducting and documenting engineering analysis and verification & validation (V&V). Ensure safety and efficacy of devices through rigorous testing according to relevant procedures and protocols.
Accountabilities
Characterisation, Verification and Validation
· Identify, understand and develop test methods and setups to meet task/project requirements
· Prepare and execute test plans, test protocols and reports
· Update and improve protocols based on learnings
Mechanical Design and Development
· Prepare and update CAD 3D models and drawings and manage associated data
· Create and document designs with:
o Minimal iterations are required
o Good manufacturability
· Contribute / conduct engineering analysis activities including brainstorming, risk analysis, DFMEA’s and design reviews
Personal Impact and Communication
· Plan, monitor and manage work packages within projects, ensuring regular reporting against key milestones
· Communicate openly and effectively across multiple teams
· Network, influence and persuade internally and externally with no direct authority
· Interact with external suppliers, as necessary
· Ensure order and quality through checking and monitoring of your own work and that of others
